Ted Peters

Ted Peters (Ph.D., University of Chicago) is Distinguished Research Professor Emeritus of Systematic Theology and Ethics at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary and the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California, and co-editor with Robert John Russell of the journal, Theology and Science, at the Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences. He has just published the 3rd edition of his systematic theology, God--The World's Future (Fortress, 3rd ed., 2015). He is also author of Playing God? Genetic Determinism and Human Freedom (Routledge, 2nd ed., 2002) and God in Cosmic History (Anselm Academic 2017). He is co-author with Martinez Hewlett of Evolution from Creation to New Creation (Abingdon 2002); Can You Believe in God and Evolution? (Abingdon, 2009). Along with Karen Lebacqz and Gaymon Bennett, he co-authored Sacred Cells? Why Christians Should Support Stem Cell Research (Roman and Littlefield, 2008). In 2018, Peters and his CTNS colleagues published Astrotheology: Science and Theology Meet Extraterrestrial Life (Cascade 2018). He serves on the Standards Working Group (SWG) of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), which sets standards for stem cell line derivation, oocyte donation, and related practices. For fictional espionage thrillers that mix science and faith, see Ted Peters, For God and Country  and Cyrus Twelve (both with Apocryphile Press, 2018). See his website: TedsTimelyTake.com.
